Person-Centered Approach
This non-directive method was initiated by Carl Rogers and, apart from being a therapeutic approach, it also proposes an alternative way of being and relating to the self and others, based on empathy, unconditional acceptance, and authenticity.
With its epistemological base in phenomenology and existentialism, it emphasizes the importance of living in the “here and now” and views people holistically, with the trust that everyone is capable of finding their own way when provided with a facilitative environment.
The Person-Centered Approach has applications beyond therapy, including education, community development, health care, and organizational settings.
Person-Centered Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a therapeutic method that uses play as a natural medium of expression and communication with children as well as adults. Through play, people can be faciliated to explore emotions, express difficult experiences, and process inner conflicts in a symbolic way.
Grounded in the same principles of empathy, acceptance, and authenticity, it provides a sensitive space that supports growth, resilience, and emotional well-being. It is particularly effective in support towards anxiety, grief, trauma, behavioral difficulties and changes with adults who benefit from creative, experiential process.
