LAMENTING WOODS

Installation, Video/Audio, Metal, paper, acrylic  sculptures

Lamenting Woods is an immersive installation combining video, sound, and sculptural elements that evoke a mourning forest as a space of loss and relation. Developed through research into folklore archival laments and lullabies as well as the rituals accompanying them, the project transforms these vocal traditions into a layered sonic environment. Sculptural forms and video footage reveal a restless crying woodland, touching upon ecological grief while also holding the tenderness and protection associated with lullabies.

Developed within a residency in a former prison cell and drawing on the notion of the Symbiocene, the installation approaches mourning not only as acknowledgment of environmental loss but as a gesture toward renewed interdependence and inner freedom grounded in softness and collective becoming.
